How did you first experience wind and what is your understanding of it?

Though I was familiar with wind before, my most significant experience of it was during pregnancy and confinement

Who told you about wind?

My mother

Do you believe in it? (Why or why not?)

Not really or strongly. Exposure to Western scientific and medical thought (close friend, brother, husband) has influenced me, I think!

What are some ailments you have that may be caused by wind?

None. But my Mum warned me that if I was not careful and observant of traditional practices to avoid wind during my confinement, I would suffer from arthritis in my old age. Though I wasn’t super convinced, in order to ease her mind I ate all the special confinement foods she prepared, wore socks (!!!) for a month, took herbal baths or sponge baths and even refrained from washing my hair too often during the month after I gave birth. Oh I also had a Malay Urut lady

What are the daily rituals you practice on your own for health and wellness?

I avoid washing my hair late at night and going to sleep with wet hair.

How did you learn of these rituals?

My mother

Do you think health and wellness is something that you should spend a lot on for it to be effective?

No

Why so?

There are many simple but effective practices in our daily lives that promote health and wellness that don’t cost much money
